Hollywood stars watch another win for the King
Floyd Mayweather, Cedric the Entertainer and other Hollywood stars attended the Los Angeles Lakers game on Thursday, but what they saw was another electric performance by the Sacramento Kings.
The Kings unveiled their black and purple uniforms on Wednesday, opening a six-game road trip with a 125-110 win at Crypto.com Arena despite a LeBron James hat-trick.
Domantas Sabonis scored 29 points, grabbed 16 rebounds and seven assists for the Kings (6-4), who led by as many as 26 points and never trailed to achieve their fourth consecutive victory.
Sabonis said the Kings have found their rhythm after enduring some offensive struggles early in the season.
“We’re definitely shooting the ball better like we did last year, so that definitely has a big factor,” Sabonis said. “Hopefully we can maintain that.”
Kevin Huerter had 28 points, four rebounds and seven assists, making 10 of 16 field-goal attempts and 6 of 11 from 3-point range.
De’Aaron Fox had 28 points, five rebounds, five assists and four steals. The Kings finished with 20 steals for the fifth time in franchise history and the first time since they did so against the Houston Rockets on January 11, 2001.
Huerter said it was important to start a long road trip with a win.
“We know this is going to be a difficult journey, but we are ready for it,” Huerter said. “We want to show everyone that we are a team that can win.”
LeBron James was the most impressive for the Lakers, scoring 38 points, 11 rebounds, and 6 assists. But he wasn’t able to stop the Kings from winning.
“They’re a good team,” James said after the game. “They play well together.”
The Kings are scheduled to play their next game on Sunday against the Portland Trail Blazers.
