FOUGHT FINISH
Just one week ago, Eritrea had never before celebrated a stage victory in the Tour de France, and today it is celebrating a second victory for Benam Gaye, as well as his obtaining the green jersey. That was an exciting stage, and a different win than the first.
It was a dispersed race to the finish line, with access difficult due to the altitude and headwinds but the Anto Mar team managed to organize well and wait for the right moment to attack. Although Brian Carr led the race in the end, it was not in his favor under the circumstances.
As for Arnold Day, who was the favorite to win, he missed many opportunities when he tried to get out of the crowd. In the end, Benam was able to win again, confirming that he had become a role model for a new generation of African riders.
