Keir Starmer to hold first cabinet meeting

After new Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer entered Downing Street, he wasted no time getting straight to work. He convened his leadership team, appointing most of them to positions they had been standing up for in the opposition.

His neighbor at Number 11, Rachel Reeves, spoke proudly of her appointment as Britain’s first female Chancellor of the Exchequer, emphasizing that this was an achievement for every woman and girl watching.

New Health Secretary Will Streeting also announced that talks to end resident doctors’ strikes would begin next week. A number of other prominent figures were appointed to various ministerial positions.

Starmer then made calls to global leaders including US President Joe Biden, who congratulated him on his victory. Starmer is expected to announce additional ministerial appointments today, ahead of the new Cabinet’s first meeting since 2010.
